USE
BENZOIC ACID
Benzoic acid is used as an intermediate (precursor) to obtain its salts called benzoates (sodium, potassium or calcium), used as preservatives (“E”) in the food industry, to obtain plasticizers based on benzoates (glycol esters, di-ethylene-glycol and tri-ethylene-glycol), used as an additive to increase the plasticity and flexibility of some materials (eg PVC – polyvinyl chloride), for formulating adhesives, respectively for obtaining alkyd resins used for paints and different types of coatings , being at the same time an effective fungicide. Benzoic acid is also used as a retarder of the polymerization process in the rubber industry. A significant percentage of the Benzoic Acid produced is used to obtain phenol.

1905
Was founded the factory of the organic chemicals Aurora
1922
Was founded the chemical – pharmaceutical enterprise Vesta
1923
Was founded the Zankl & sons’ enterprise, as branch of the firm A. Zahal Sohne – FARBENWERKE od Graz (Austria)
1954
The State Enterprise was founded in 1954, by overtaking: the factory of the organic chemicals Aurora (founded in 1905), the chemical – pharmaceutical enterprise Vesta (fonded in 1922) and Zankl & son’s enterprise (founded 1923)
1990
Sinteza was established by Government Decree No. 1213/20.11.1990 by taking over the entire patrimony of the State Chemical Sinteza – one of the first chemicals manufactures from Romania.
1997
The Sinteza shares are listed at the Bucharest stock-exchange, at the second category, under STZ symbol
